A Christmas Miracle?
I was “on vacation” from December 1st until the 17th. When I returned on the 18th THE NURSE actually engaged me in a delightful conversation. She asked for my help knowing I would complete the tasks at hand; and, she didn’t say in the morning “What did you do all night?” THEN the oncoming shift came in and said: “We are so glad you are back, a lot of things didn’t get done while you were out, we didn’t realize how much you do to organize the unit!” I felt vindicated!!!!

That’s always nice. It’s almost too bad you have to leave for a long period of time to hear things like that.

Trauma Junkie, it WAS nice…I was feeling so burned out because I work my A off; and I was feeling that there was no point to all that I do because most of what I do goes un-noticed. I felt I was loosing my drive and a bit of my edge…although I have a strong work ethic, I was beginning to feel lazy. Since THE Nurse was considerate and the am shift took notice, I feel I am going to work harder than ever to ensure that my unit and my work is top-notch. The compliments were a great way to get re-energized; at least for me — “people pleaser extraordinare.” LOL.
